New Lawns, Grass Seeding and Sod Installation
New Lawns
Perennial Landscape Corporation offers new lawn installation services. Perennial can install a luscious and vibrant lawn that will make your neighbors envious. There are two main ways for a lawn to be installed, either through seeding, sod, or hydroseeding. You might be wondering, which lawn installation is the best? The answer depends on your time frame and budget.
Grass Seeding
Grass seeding takes the longest of all three options. It may take anywhere from 8-12 weeks for the new lawn to come in. Additionally, the new seeds need to be watered often and attended to regularly to ensure that they take and create a vibrant lawn.
Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding involves spraying a mixture of seeds, mulch and fertilizer. Hydroseeding results in much faster lawn growth than regular seeding, with new lawn typically growing between 4-8 weeks.
Sod Installation
Sod is a layer of pre- grown grass with soil and roots. Sod installation gives you a beautiful green lawn immediately, although it may take two to three weeks for the roots to take hold and for the lawn to be stable.
How to care for a new lawn
Watering
Watering your new lawn is essential to ensure that your new lawn takes root. Check out our watering recommendations for new lawns for more information.
Avoid Foot Traffic
When your new lawn is first installed it is imperative to minimize foot traffic as much as possible. This will allow time for the lawn to establish strong roots and access enough sunlight to grow into strong and healthy grass
Regular Mowing
Once your lawn has established itself, one of the best ways to encourage growth and keep it healthy is to make sure it is regularly mowed. Fertilizing
When your lawn is first installed you should hold off on fertilizing it for at least six weeks to allow time for your lawns roots to establish without potential issues arising due to an excess of nutrients. However, once your lawn has been established, fertilizing is a great way to keep your lawn healthy and happy.
